Thus far, Lockdown has not been too bad for me.

I am fortunate enough to live close to some of Sheffield’s prettiest countryside so can get out for a good walk. Watching people cross the street on my approach was a little odd to begin with but even that has become normal and I too zig zag across pavements and pathways to ensure that I have the greatest distance between me and my fellow ramblers. I’m not a great one for indoor PE and prefer to get out and about, I’m afraid that Mr Motivator is going to have his work cut out trying to get me leaping around the kitchen in my pyjamas.

I don’t have kids at home to school so have not had to dream up creative ways to teach maths and grammar whilst trying to get on with my day job and I have an extensive DVD collection so can always find a good film to watch at the end of the day – movie marathons are becoming a regular occurrence and this week I have been mostly watching gangster movies.

I have managed to keep in touch with friends and family via Zoom – as one that grew up in the 80’s I remember when ‘Zoom’ was just a cool song by Fat Larry’s band – and have been greatly reassured to see that I am not the only one with an inch of grey root and a wobbly fringe. It’s amazing how quickly you forget the world outside when you are having a beer and a bit of banter with your mates

Working from home is not ideal but it’s doable and the dress code in my house is very relaxed so I don’t have to iron which is nice! I have also suspended the not eating at my desk rule which was a mistake as I can eat half a packet of biscuits in the time it takes to log in!

It’s good to know that there are a million people just like me with good intentions and very bad habits and we are all in this together!

Keep washing your hands!
