About us Our impact Our Impact Sheffield Mind has been delivering mental health services in the city for over 45 years. We're respected and trusted locally and we pride ourselves on the standards of care and support provided to service users by all staff, regardless of role. We're also proud to have been able to source funding and work with partners to maintain the provision of free services despite a changing landscape and much greater competition for available financial resources. We provide a range of services to address multiple and complex mental health needs in people aged 18 and over. In addition to our work with adults, we are part of 'Leaving on a Positive', a citywide initiative to provide support to Sheffield's Care Leavers and we offer Children & Young People's counselling as part of our Revive chargeable services. Our impact has been significant and amongst our proudest achievements has been: Delivering an innovative programme of counselling and peer support for older adults, through our Emotional Wellbeing Service in partnership with Age Better Sheffield. This service was highlighted in a World Health Organisation report entitled Creating Supportive Environments and Resilient Communities and Age Better. Community mental health services are now embedded in Primary Care Networks... I am particularly pleased that this includes increased reach into communities previously under-served by existing services. As the report makes clear, strong collaborative bonds have established across organisations in Sheffield, with primary, secondary and voluntary sector partners amongst others working closer than ever. These relationships are surely the key building blocks upon which further improvements to services will be built" Professor Tim Kendall, National Clinical Director for Mental Health, NHS England Professor Tim Kendall, National Clinical Director for Mental Health, NHS England Environmental Impact We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and creating positive social value within our community. As part of this, we maintain an Environmental Policy and an annual checklist to help us review and improve how we reduce, reuse, and recycle across our services. Environmental Impact Committed to Net Zero We believe that caring for the environment works hand in hand with caring for our community’s well-being. We recognise the urgent need to respond to climate change, and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint in every area of our work. the measures that we are taking and the target we have set can be found in our Net Zero Policy. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and creating positive social value within our community. As part of this, we maintain an Environmental Policy and an annual checklist to help us review and improve how we reduce, reuse, and recycle across our services. We actively encourage staff and people who use our services to travel to the Wellbeing Centre in more sustainable ways, such as by public transport, cycling, or walking wherever possible. Listening to feedback from our team has been an important part of this journey. In response to concerns about plastic use, we introduced glass milk bottle deliveries and invested in a water cooler, significantly reducing our reliance on single-use plastics. We have also taken steps to minimise paper use by moving away from paper-based records wherever possible. Where paper is still needed, we ensure it is managed responsibly through secure shredding and regular recycling, helping us reduce waste while maintaining confidentiality. In addition, we source office supplies and services from local providers. This not only supports the local economy but also helps reduce travel distances and unnecessary fuel consumption. We recognise that small, consistent changes can make a meaningful difference. By embedding sustainable practices into our everyday work, we are working towards a more environmentally responsible and socially conscious organisation. Carbon Reduction Plan Annual Impact Report Real impact is built together.
