About us Our impact Our Impact Sheffield Mind has been delivering mental health services in the city for 45 years. We're a respected and trusted provider and we pride ourselves on the standards of care and support provided to service users by all staff, regardless of role. We're proud to have been able to source funding and work with partners to maintain the provision of free services despite a changing landscape and much greater competition for available financial resources. We provide a range of services to address multiple and complex mental health needs in people aged 18 and over. In addition to our work with adults, Our GAPS service works with children and young people, looking at effective ways of supporting young people who are at risk of gambling-related harm and our Through the Clouds service offers counselling to children and young people who are struggling to come to terms with a bereavement. Our impact has been significant and amongst our proudest achievements has been: Working to establish and promote greater mental health awareness with the Time To Change campaign, Delivering an innovative programme of counselling and peer support for older adults, through our Emotional Wellbeing Service in partnership with Age Better Sheffield. Being recognised as a go-to organisation by individuals and organisations in the city who are wanting to learn more and improve the wellbeing of friends and colleagues. Amongst recent accolades received, our Age Better Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners service is highlighted in a World Health Organisation report entitled Creating Supportive Environments and Resilient Communities and Age Better. In the foreword, Professor Tim Kendall, National Clinical Director for Mental Health, NHS England says: "I am pleased to say that Sheffield has risen to the challenge and can rightfully be proud of its key achievements in delivering the new models of care, closer to home to greater numbers of people. Community mental health services are now embedded in Primary Care Networks... I am particularly pleased that this includes increased reach into communities previously under-served by existing services. As the report makes clear, strong collaborative bonds have established across organisations in Sheffield, with primary, secondary and voluntary sector partners amongst others working closer than ever. These relationships are surely the key building blocks upon which further improvements to services will be built". Environmental Impact. We have an Environmental Policy and a checklist which we update every year, looking at ways in which we can reduce, reuse and recycle. For example, we encourage staff and service users to access the Wellbeing Centre via public transport, bicycle or on foot. Some of our staff were concerned about the amount of plastic we were using so we started getting our milk delivered in glass bottles and we've also invested in a water cooler, which has significantly reduced our single use plastic. We've also significantly reduced our reliance on paper records. Our latest venture is to work with local artists Arts Catalyst to make our back garden into a wildlife oasis. They're planting lots of perennials that will attract bees and butterflies and we look forward to having a beautiful space that can be enjoyed by staff and service users. We welcome your comments and suggestions about our environmental impact.
