So whilst a lot of the activities will be fitness based - athletic prowess -or the lack thereof - is not a barrier to taking part and you can create your own unique challenge to get people donating. the organisers have put together a comprehensive list which you can access here or you come up with something totally unique Sponsored events are going to be popular and we know that several people are aiming to walk 26 miles (or 26 mins) in honour of the marathon.

Some will be doing this in their homes and gardens and some will be using their static bikes or treadmills to cover the distance. If you fancy a more sedate challenge there are a lot of strength and balance ideas - 26 Planks, 26 Yoga poses in succession or for a period of 26 minutes, hopping and skipping are popular too and need little room - although we urge anyone intending to skip to do so outside!

If you have friends you can engage them in an online contest - most squats in 26 mins, who can hold the longest plank, and get friends and family to sponsor your domestic olympics or maybe get everyone together for an online danceathon - one of you gets to be host and DJ and the rest have to get their groove on

If you have a pet you can walk them for 26 minutes - maybe 2.6 if you have a mouse or guinea pig!!

If you have friends that would like to take part, you can engage them in an online contest - most squats in 26 mins, who can hold the longest plank (surely not 6 mins), who can do the most keepy uppies in 2.6 mins and get friends and family to sponsor your domestic olympics.

If you fancy something a little more informal, or maybe get everyone together for an online danceathon or if you are an instructor, hold an online zumba, waltz or tapathon -  one of you gets to be host and DJ and the rest have to get their groove on

If you don't fancy the sporty activities maybe you can do something creative - make 26 cards and send to friends and family members asking each to make a donation to the challenge, draw 26 rainbows and deliver  to your neighbours so they can display in their windows and show their support for key workers maybe deliver an online quiz - very popular at the moment. Get your friends and families to make a donation in order to take part (2.60 per person or £26.00 per team) and deliver the quiz via zoom/facebook/skype  - whatever platform your are familiar with

These are just some ideas and there are plenty more to have a look at here https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/events/twopointsix/
