Due to Art in the Gardens setting up, the Springboard gang got something of a private viewing of the otherwise closed Botanical Gardens, when we visited this week. We even got a little look at the nurseries where volunteers do a lot of the behind-the-scenes work. There was clearly a lot of colour still on display, though not everything in the gardens blooms at the same time.

A couple of little interesting facts - the fossil that looks like a tree trunk is actually not, it's actually a fossilised moss! Yes, moss got really big way back in the distant past. The second little interesting fact was the name given to one of the plants in the Weigela genus, It's Elvera Midnight Wine, which we all thought was a very romantic and beautifully gothic sounding name.
