We welcomed Tammy from local action group, Plastic Free Sheffield earlier his week, to talk at our Coffee morning and she certainly served up some food for thought.

She told us how the volunteer lead group are doing their best to educate people about the need to reduce the use of single use plastics and also talked through some of the alternatives that we might consider, to items we use on a regular basis. Packing a reusable lunch box rather than buying a daily pre packaged sandwhich or meal was just one of the the suggestions that went down well with the staff, and they have had their thinking caps on ever since, trying to come up with other ways we can make a difference.

One easy step that we took that other organisations could think about, is switching from the use of single use plastic milk containers to getting milk in reusable bottles. You can arrange delivery from several local suppliers and they collect them too - Win Win!

We were delighted to support the campaign and signed the Plastic Free Pledge to demonstrate our commitment to doing what we can - every small change makes a BIG difference and we all have to start somewhere.
