Hello, I'm John. Since my early 20s, I’ve felt passionate about the need to create positive change in the community and I’ve worked in various roles, such as delivering music provision to young people at risk of causing anti-social behaviour and working with people with mental health issues and housing problems. I also enjoy organising events that not only raise funds for the charity but also bring people together.

I am passionate about Sheffield Mind and supporting people with mental health illness. I believe that my knowledge and experience of mental health and support services can be utilised to help Sheffield Mind raise its profile and develop services to meet the needs of the community. In particular, I’m interested in raising the profile and voice of the service user at Sheffield Mind and feeding that voice into the board of trustees, using my own life experiences to reflect on the best ways to support people to be heard and feel able to speak out. I am also the safeguarding lead on the board and I liaise on a regular basis with the Clinical Lead, to ensure that the services we offer are safe and that we learn from any challenges we meet along the way.

In my spare time, I'm a DJ and I love to read articles and books and watch documentaries, increasing my knowledge about different issues.
