Avoid waffle.

Use easy to understand words and avoid incomplete sentences. If it’s going to be a difficult conversation, make notes beforehand and be aware of yourself and how you’re communicating in the meeting.

When delivering a complicated or difficult message, some people have a tendency to trail off at the end of a sentence or put in a lot of “you knows”. This will create confusion.

Encourage people to ask questions at the end, so you can double-check that your message has been understood.
