We thought it would never happen but after two years wait, during which time he repeatedly had his plans to compete in the Marathon Des Sables quashed by lockdown restrictions, Jim has not only made it to the race BUT finished it too!

Its a staggering achievement, six days’ running over 250 kms (156 miles) across endless sand dunes and white-hot salt plains, carrying all that you need to survive in a backpack. Its not a challenge for the feint of heart and we know that Jim put in many t hours training to get to peak fitness, running multiple marathons - often in the same week - to build up his stamina and raise funds for Sheffield Mind.

Jim has raised a huge amount of money through his efforts and has had a lot of support from the local community. We are grateful to everyone that made a donation, all the money raised will be invested in local service delivery

You can still donate to the campaign here https://www.sheffieldmind.co.uk/fundraisers/jims-marathon-challenge

Only one thing remains - what on earth is he going to do to top this?

Cheers Jim - we are hugely grateful for your support and delighted you made it to the finish in one piece!!
