The Age Better in Sheffield programme is funded by The Big Lottery and delivered in partnership with a number of local charities, specialising in support for older people.

The project offers a range of services to people aged 50+ who are experiencing social isolation.

In addition to our Age Better Wellbeing Practitioners service we ran the very successful Peer Mentor scheme. Users of the service were partnered with trained volunteers who could help increase confidence and resilience through helping facilitate attendance at local groups and clubs, helping rekindle a dormant interest through shared participation and generally encouraging people who were at risk of becoming isolated to engage with the wider community.

We provided one to one and group Art Therapy and encourage regular client socials and co-production events to ensure that the needs and preferences of service users is paramount.

The Wellbeing Service has been cited as an exemplar in a recent World Health Organisation publication

‘Health 2020 priority area four: creating supportive environments and resilient communities’
