Peter (not his real name) was a heavy drinker, who had lost the motivation to wash or shave for over 6 months when he moved into Connect 3 shared accommodation. On moving in, he felt unable to leave his room and was at high risk due to depression.

Gradually, Peter’s keyworker persuaded him to accompany her on a short walk around the block – these short, accompanied walks continued for 2 months and then Peter agreed to walk the short distance to our office, on his own. He now meets his keyworker regularly at the office.

Peter has begun to manage his self-care and has now identified the goal of getting into town on the bus. He hasn’t managed to get on public transport for over 3 years, so Peter and his keyworker are really pleased to be working on this goal together.
