In March we saw physical activity centres close down and people prevented from taking part in their team-based sports and physical activities. People more recently have been able to meet outside in groups of 6, provided they socially distanced from people in other households. And as the lockdown is being further relaxed, facilities such as gyms, leisure centres & pools are gradually reopening from 25 July, subject to working within the government’s guidelines.

Keeping up to speed with all this information - what’s allowed and what’s not – can be tricky and that’s where our Signposting Service can help. If you give us some basic details about your interests, we can research what suits you. (See at the bottom of the post for how to contact us.)

Rachel from Mosborough did just this. She wanted to build up her weekly routines again as lockdown relaxed and was interested in 4 activities – walking, bootcamp-type fitness sessions, cycling and gardening. She uses the bus to get around so we needed to factor this in. For example, the only bootcamp type training available was in Baslow in the early evening so she decided that as the journey time was nearly 2 hours each way it wouldn’t be suitable for her. We were ultimately able to find a number of options which she could then choose from.

Rachel said ‘The service was really helpful and very easy to use and I know what’s available‘.

Rachel wanted her occupational therapist (OT) involved too so we shared the summary email with her. Her OT said “this will be great and I can pursue all this with her. It’s excellent, really clear and concise.”
