City Archaeology Walk On Tuesday 19th October, Sheffield Mind's Springboard project will be holding an archaeology walk in collaboration with our friends from Wessex Archaeology. The plan is meet at the castle and briefly talk about its history from outside. We will then cross Blonk St. Bridge and look at the crucible stack . We will continue along footpath following the Don to Lady’s Bridge and talk about the bridge, the Wicker and the slaughterhouse district. We'll then walk up Nursery Street to the pocket park where there is a cementation furnace scar. Walk up past Aizlewood’s Mill to Bridgehouses Bridge, cut through from there to Kelham, talk about town mill/workhouse, chimney, experiences dredging the goit, and finish at the café/museum. The walk is approximately a mile in each direction. If you're interested in taking part, please contact our Springboard Coordinator, Teresa Ravenshaw at [email protected] Booking for this event has now closed.
