News and events Sheffield Mind joins in discussion on Islam and Mental Health In January 2022, Sheffield Mind's Community Connector Adam joined in a discussion about mental health at Jamia Masjid Ghausia in Firth Park. The event was organised by An Nasiha and the focus was to discuss mental health from the perspective of Islam. Special guest, Hafiz Dr Ather Hussain alAzhari gave a fantastic presentation and offered insight into how Islam can be used to help manage mental health, and that the taboo of mental health is preventing people from talking about their issues and seeking help within their community and from other services in the city. An Nasiha is a voluntary Islamic organisation. Founded in 2011, it has since been run by a team of students. Through their efforts, An Nasiha holds public events in mosques and community centres up and down the UK. As always, it was good to talk!
